1.) Do regular deep conditioning treatments. You don’t have to spend a lot of dough on anything fancy–you might even have something in your kitchen that will work just fine! 2.) Give your hair a rest. If you’re heat styling your hair a lot or subjecting it to colour or other chemical processes on a regular basis and you’re noticing dryness or damage as a result, try giving your hair a breather or waiting a little longer in between. During this time, you can wear a protective hairstyle that will keep your hair looking great while letting it rest and return back to a healthy condition.
3.) Take it easy on the ‘poo. Washing your hair too often can dry it out by stripping your scalp of its natural oils. If you’re used to washing your hair every day, you can slowly train your hair to get used to not being washed all the time. Start by washing every two days, then every three days, and so on. You may have to deal with some greasiness in between, but thankfully there’s dry shampoo for that!
4.) Try co-washing. Co-washing involves washing your hair with conditioner instead of shampoo, which helps combat dryness. You can even purchase special conditioners made for this. Here’s a rundown of how to do it: Co-washing 101.
5.) End your shower with a cool rinse. During the last few moments of rinsing out your conditioner, turn the tap to cool water. This will seal the moisture into the hair shaft and smooth it down. Do it! You will notice a major difference in shine!
